A loan of $750 helped invest in the purchase of more merchandise like eggs, beans, soft drinks, milk, oil, rice, sugar, etc.

Lucia's story

Lucia is 32 years old. She married to Ulises who is a farm worker. They have five school-age children. The oldest is in the third year of preparatory school. The next two are in their first and second year of secondary school. The youngest children are in their third and fifth years of primary school. Lucia has had a grocery store for a year and a half.
She says that she started this small business because she wanted to find a way to support her husband with the household expenses and to improve their economic situation in order to enjoy a good quality of life. The loan that she received was invested in the purchase of more merchandise like eggs, beans, soft drinks, milk, oil, rice, sugar, etc. This merchandise will give her a better selection.
She is convinced that one her biggest dreams that she will be able to achieve is to make her business grow a lot more. She wants to build a larger building for her grocery store in order to have a good selection and greater variety of products. With this plan, she can increase and improve her profits.
Lucí (how she is known in her community) says that she is very grateful for the kiva lenders, for the support that they are offering and more than anything for the confidence.
