Nieves's story

Nieves is 44 years old and is a charasmatic and affable woman. She lives with her partner Pablo with whom she has 1 child, 12 years old, in her own house in the city of Merced. Nieves learns quickly. She learned the business helping her sister-in-law who sells meat. Thus Nieves starts her work from 4 in the afternoon. For this she buys poultry such as hens, chickens and ducks which benefit from being plucked. "I work alone. Once I've finished plucking and eviscerating the poultry I put them in the freezer for distribution the next day," she explains. For this work, she goes twice a week to the city of Huancayo where she gets poultry at a better price. "I pay 12 soles a kilo but sell it for 19 or 20 doles. It's good money," she says.

With the passing of time and the continuity of her business, Nieves hopes to rent and fit out a kiosk in the city oval so there will be no need to deliver her product straight to her customers hands. This will be her first loan with MFP so she agrees to be punctual with her repayments. "Mujeres al Exito" is the name of her communal bank and she is very exicted at belonging to the group. On receiving the loan she will invest it in the purchase of poultry such as: hens, ducks and chickens and as demand grows with the Christmas season she will also buy turkeys to continue her business.
