A loan of $575 helped to buy toys and beer for resale.

Maria's story

María Luisa set up a soda fountain in her home. During that time she has consolidated her juice, breakfast, porridge, salad, hamburger, and hot and cold beverage businesses. In this way she was able to draw in loyal customers to continue this business.

She also sells food to students from different schools. Every morning she has to prepare 25 lunches that include soup, an entrée, and a drink, which she distributes in individual containers. “This work benefits me much more than the soda fountain, because the payments come every two weeks or monthly. The mothers already know me and know that my food is healthy and they trust me to feed their children.”

María wants to expand her soda fountain in the future, creating a more complete business; perhaps a restaurant or general store, but in the meantime she’ll continue selling lunches.

In time, this hardworking woman would like to build a house; this has been one of her greatest desires. This will be her first loan through MFP and she is committed to making her payments on time. She is a member of the group, “Mujeres al éxito” (Women for success), and as the name implies, success is her vision.

Upon obtaining the money, María will be able to open a small business for the Christmas campaign. For this she will buy boxes of toys and beers that she will sell at her soda fountain.
