A loan of $500 helped a member to buy farming inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer, at low prices for the 2012 planting season.

Vuyanzi Farmers Group's story

Rosemary is the facilitator of the Vuyanzi Farmers group. Rosemary and her group joined One Acre Fund in 2011 and will re-enroll in the 2012 program.

With this loan, One Acre Fund will purchase fertilizer, seeds, and other important inputs to distribute to Rosemary and her group during Kenya's next planting season in February 2012. The distribution of farming inputs such as fertilizer and seed is part of One Acre Fund's integrated agriculture package, which also includes training, credit, and insurance. Rosemary takes care of six children at home. She joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough to secure food for her family and to have additional maize profits to send her children to school. With the income from maize sales, Rosemary will educate her children and invest in livestock rearing and business as savings for future use.

In 2012, the members of Vuyanzi Farmers group will each plant maize plots between one half and one acre of land. She is pictured with her group members in the photograph.
