A loan of $725 helped a member to buy farming inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer, at low prices for the 2012 planting season.

Wechinia B Group's story

Mary is the facilitator of the Wechinia B group. Mary and her group joined One Acre Fund in 2011 and will re-enroll in the 2012 program.

With this loan, One Acre Fund will purchase fertilizer, seeds, and other important inputs to distribute to Mary and her group during Kenya's next planting season in February 2012. The distribution of farming inputs such as fertilizer and seed is part of One Acre Fund's integrated agriculture package, which also includes training, credit, and insurance.

Mary joined One Acre Fund in order to access fertilizer and hybrid seeds and ensure food security for her family. In the recent 2011 season, Mary had a very good maize yield harvesting 15 bags on one acre of land. Before joining One Acre Fund, Mary was only able to harvest eight bags of maize on that land.

In this group: Asha, Beatrice, Dimina, Joseph, Mary, Peter, Phoebe, Seth
