Mónica Elizabeth's story

Mónica is a member of the "Las Toquilleras" communal bank. She lives in the canton of Sigsig, located southwest of the city of Cuenca. It has tourist attractions such as its Municipal Archaeological Musuem, handicraft products made from toquilla fiber, and high-quality farm and fruit products, leading its producers to hold annual festivals and competitions to design the best plantations, especially in apple production.

Mónica is 18 years old. She is single and lives with her parents in a house that they own. Her father works in construction, and her mother raises animals.

At present, Mónica is studying at a school in her town. She has been a member of the communal bank for a year, and she will invest her new loan in buying shoes so she can start selling this kind of merchandise and have a business of her own.
