A loan of $375 helped to buy a new awning.

Catalina's story

Thirty-year-old Catalina lives in the Los Angeles neighborhood of the city of Barranquilla, where she offers telecommunication services via cell phone calls. She began this activity in 2001 with two cell phone plans in her mother’s name. Catalina’s mother helps her support her two children. Catalina works hard for her children, to help them grow into successful adults and to continually improve her ability to provide for their well-being.

She currently has five cell phone plans, and she has a great desire to grow her business. She would like to have an awning to improve its image; at the moment she has a shade that is worn out and does not protect her and her customers from the rain. This is why she is requesting a Kiva loan, her first one with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. Her goal for the future is to establish an Internet café where she can expand her service offerings in a good location on a well-trafficked street.
