A loan of $1,200 helped to buy supplies and fertilizers for his cabbage crop.

Matilde De Jesus's story

Matilde, 24 years old and single, was born in Coyolito county in La Concordia, a municipality of Jinotega. He cultivates vegetables for a living since he inherited the activity from his parents. His older siblings and the rest of the family are also involved in agriculture and grow cabbage, tomatoes, sweet pepper, and onions. They also raise cattle and sell milk. He planted his first crop of tomatoes when he was 16 years old. Now that he is independent from his father he wants to grow cabbage. In order to do this he has requested a loan to buy supplies and fertilizers for his cabbage crop. One of his future goals is to buy dairy cattle and continue with his vegetable activity so he can get ahead and grow his business.
