A loan of $300 helped to buy 15 sacks of lima beans.

Andrea's story

Andrea is a member of the communal bank "Kapia Marca," located in Yunguyo province in the department of Puno. She is 55 years old, married, and has two children who are independent. She has an incomplete elementary school education. Andrea has worked with the Movimiento Manuela Ramos organization for a year. Her first loan was for 500 Peruvian soles, which she invested in her business selling regional products. Now she requests a new loan for the sum of 800 Peruvian soles, which she will use to buy 15 sacks of lima beans. She tells us that she sells her products in the city of Lima. She works alone in her business, and her husband works in construction. Andrea wants to continue with her business and increase her income. What she likes most about her communal bank are the easy terms on the loans, and the savings accounts.
