No is 28 years old and married, living in a rural area of the Ponhea Krek district. She has two children who are dependents and still in school. To make a living, she has been farming on her rice field for eight years, supplementing her income by running a small business selling grilled beef. With her current business, she earns around 50 US dollars per day, and she can save around three US dollars per day.
Now she is applying for a loan. This is No’s first loan with VisionFund. She will use this loan to buy fertilizer for her rice field. With this loan, she hopes to grow more rice and also earn more income to make a better living and also keep her children in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
