Paulina’s a member of the “Ahorro es Progreso” communal bank located in Puno Province and Department. She’s 47 years old, single and has two children. She attended secondary school. Paulina makes sweaters, shawls, stockings, etc. She’s been working with the Manuela Ramos Movement for three years. Her first loan was in the amount of 300 new soles which she invested in her knitwear business. She will request a new, 800 new sol, loan to buy ten cones of wool yarn and Helios thread [polyester] in various colors to make her items; her mother helps her in the business. She would like to own a knitting machine and to have a place of her own to sell wool at wholesale. What she likes best about her communal bank is the unity, the punctuality and the mutual support.
