Catalina's story

Catalina is a member of the ”VIRGEN CONCEBIDA DE ARIN” community bank which is located in Arin district, in Calca province, in Cusco department.

Catalina is 34 years old and lives with her husband and four children. She has a sales stall in the Mercado Modelo market in Calca which she rents. She has been in this business for 10 years and it is doing very well thanks to the effort that she puts into her work. On her sales stall, Catalina's neighbors find all kinds of vegetables: lettuce, wild herbs, potatoes, parsley, cabbage, etc. With the small business that she has established, Catalina tries to provide her family with a better standard of living through the income she makes from her daily sales. Catalina also raises animals such as chickens, guinea pigs and double-breasted hens. This allows her, on public holidays, to sell chicken and hen soup.

On this occasion, Catalina would like to invest in buying vegetables. She would like to stock her business by purchasing vegetables. She will also use part of the money to buy 10 pairs of chickens.

Catalina is grateful for her loan and pledges to make her repayments according to schedule.
