A loan of $375 helped to buy fertilizer.

Carlos's story

Carlos is 35 years old and has been cohabitating with Sonia for six years. This family lives in a home of their own in the Alto Yapaz annex of the San Luis de Shuaro- Chanchamayo district. Carlos is a field worker and farms thanks to his father who taught him.

He has farmland that the community gave him and he raises coffee and bananas. The coffee will be ready to harvest in July and the bananas every two weeks. He doesn’t have to worry about unforeseen situations. Things didn’t go well for him at first because he didn’t have his own lands, so he had to lease them. Now he works his land wisely. Sonia helps him with his work, but he needs more help during the harvest and must hire field hands.

In the future he hopes to expand his crops, but for that he will need to lease more land and with some luck be able to buy it. This will be his fifth loan through MFP, thanks to your assistance. He is committed to be on time with his payments and is glad to be working with his communal bank because he has the same interests as the other members.

Carlos will be able to buy ten sacks of organic fertilizer for his banana and coffee crops.
