Marziya's story

Marziya is 49 years old. She works as a Kyrgyz language and literature teacher at a school in the town of Isfana. Due to the fact teachers' salaries are low and to find an additional source of income, she decided to start her own business of selling children's and teenage clothing at a local market in 2010. She leased a container (retail space) and opens it every day during the second half of the day, thus, combining her business with her primary job. Marziya's good selection of merchandise, friendly service and practical advice with clothing choice attract more and more customers. In order to further grow her business, Marziya requested a loan in the sum of 70,000 som (KGS) from the "Bai-Tushum and Partners" company to expand merchandise assortment by purchasing winter seasonal merchandise. She plans to direct the profits from this loan to continued business expansion.
