Hope is a 32-year-old retail merchant who lives in the town of Gitega, part of the Province of Mutobo in the center of the country.

She has been retailing bananas for the past eight years, a trade she started when she was crop farming. She attended school up to the 6th grade. She is married to Prosper with whom she had three children, all under school age.

Kiva's credit loan of 120,000 Burundian francs will enable her to increase her capital and buy large quantities of bananas for retail sales, in order to realize large profits and increase her savings. She is a member of the Gumyumutima community group.
