A loan of $925 helped to buy sacks of organic fertilizer for the vegetables to supply her business.

Teofila's story

Teofila, 51, a happy woman, is married to Victor and they have 5 children: 28, 25, 20, 16 and 14, although only the 3 youngest still live with them. They have their own house in the Ricricán village, Palcamayo district. Teo is a tireless woman who despite her years, has lots of energy to work full-time in farming. She has planted potatoes and ollucos (indigenous Peruvian tuber) in her fields but these only earn her money in certain seasons of the year.

She also sells meats and vegetables in Chanchamayo. Teo has 50 sheep that she sells for their meat and parts. She buys the vegetables at the wholesale market and sells them retail in Chanchamayo. She has to travel to make these sales twice a week.
Teo is sure that at this pace she will be able to build her house in the center of Palcamayo but for now it will be constructed of rustic materials. She will do this for her children so that they will live closer to their schools. With your help, this will be her 15th loan with MFP. She promises to be punctual with her payments and she feels content with the communal bank because of the solidarity among the members.
She will use half the money to buy sacks of organic fertilier and the other half to purchase vegetables for the business.
