He has been engaged in working as a day laborer, an activity he has learned from his parents. Evelio is requesting a loan to Fundación Campo to buy 1300 tiles and bamboo poles for the walls of his house, presently made of bahareque (wall made of plaited cane and mud), and to pay for labor costs. In this way he and his family will have a safe house of their own and they will not have to pay rent. Evelio wishes to continue working with Fundación Campo and to offer a better life to his family; he also wants to keep on working to earn more money and to save some.

About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
