A loan of $1,025 helped to buy crates, drinks, and kitchen utensils.

Mankaa's story

Pictured is a young single mother of two children under 15 years old. They live in a two-room house at Mile-Two Nkwen Bamenda in the North West region of Cameroon. She is saddened whenever she thinks about being a school drop-out, the death of her father, the death of her group member, and about poverty.

This dynamic lady joined GHAPE in 2003 and has successfully taken and repaid empowerment credit five times. She struggles to educate her two children so that they can have the knowledge she never had. Given a loan, she will invest in her snack bar and restaurant business. The loan will be used to buy crates, drinks, and kitchen utensils.

She plans to plough back part of the profit into her business, buy a piece of land, and build a house. She prefers a GHAPE loan because of low interest rates and an ample investment period, as well as training received from GHAPE in business management and marketing.
