A loan of $1,225 helped to purchase calves and piglets and to purchase wood for warming the house.

Nina's story

Nina is 57 years old. She lives in the village of Korkhi, South Georgia. Nina lives alone; she performs night-watch duties at a local school and receives a monthly salary of 80 GEL.

Nina's main source of income is agriculture. In particular, she has a milk cow, and she produces cheese and sells it at the local market. Along with the dairy farm, Nina is also busy growing potatoes. She sells the harvested vegetables in the village to retailers.

Nina requested credit for purchasing calves, piglets, and wood. Nina will feed calves and piglets during the winter months and sell them in spring for a higher price. She will use the wood to heat her house.

Nina plans to save some part of the received income for further development of potato growing, as this business has a high profit margin. Part of the income will be also used for purchasing additional household goods to improve Nina’s living conditions.
