A loan of $675 helped to buy clothing and cosmetics for resale.

Johanna Kathiuska's story

Johanna is a member of the “Génesis” communal bank and lives in the outskirts of Cuenca. This city has a cold climate. Its historic city center with its mix of colonial and modern styles, its natural beauty, its varied food, and the warmth of its people make it special. Johanna is 32 years old, is married and has two children, ages 12 and 1. Her oldest child attends the city school. Her husband is a shoemaker and has his own workshop. They own their home. Johanna sells cosmetics of various brands and also sells clothing through catalogs. She’s been in this business for seven years and works seven days a week without a set schedule. This will be her second loan through the communal bank, to which she was invited by her sister in law. She will use the money from this new loan to buy cosmetics and clothing for the Christmas season. Her goal is to have her own shop.
