A loan of $2,350 helped a member to buy fabric and Christmas ornaments.

Mujeres Decididas E Independientes Group's story

Gladys is 55 and a very skilled woman. She enjoys learning to do new things, above all handicrafts. Initially, she made them for entertainment but in time they became her principal source of income. Thus, she prepares items according to holidays, such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentines, etc. She makes all kinds of articles such as tablecloths, cushions, dolls, etc. She presents expositions of her crafts and sells them to her friends, neighbors and others who hear about her work. She holds these exhibitions in her own home.

Gladys is currently preparing for the Christmas holidays and will use her loan to buy fabric and Christmas ornaments. Thanks to her work she has been able to help her children with their studies and in some way to get ahead. She is a widow and she has sacrificed a great deal in order to succeed. At present she is a member of the ” MUJERES DECIDIDAS E INDEPENDIENTES” communal bank.
