A loan of $1,000 helped to buy two pigs and one cow to slaughter, and to buy clothes to sell.

Ana Elizabeth's story

Ana is 30 years old, married, and has three children.

Ana has 13 years experience in selling products. She started out selling pineapples, corn, squashes, etc - whatever was in season. Seven years ago she started buying and selling clothes. In addition, Ana has been slaughtering cows and pigs and selling the meat and bone for four years. Before this, Ana used to devote herself to looking after her house but she decided to start working in sales out of necessity. When she got married her expenses increased and so she took the initiative and started contributing towards covering the household expenses.

Ana buys clothing in a city in the east of the country. To get there she walks for forty-five minutes, catches a bus for another forty-five minutes and then goes and makes her purchases. She buys her cows and pigs from people who sell animals for this business. When Ana has animals to slaughter, she gets up at 3.00am so that she can carry out all her work and sell the meat in her community and neighboring areas.

Ana is requesting this loan to buy two pigs and one cow to slaughter. She will use the rest of her money to buy clothing as this is a very good season for selling clothes and so she needs a loan to invest in her business. In this way, she will stock her business and will be able to proviD. for her family. She will be able to proviD. her children with an education so that they can face life a little more easily and things will not be as hard for them as they were for her.

Ana would like to continue working very hard to proviD. her children with an education and she will work every day to achieve this goal. She asks God for good health and hopes that he gives her many more years of life so that she doesn't have to leave her young children because what she most wants is to see them with a university degree and married if possible.
