Bibi is 53 years old and married. She is the mother of an 18 year old son who goes to school. Bibi’s main activity is selling smoked and salted fish from her business located west of the city of Kinshasa. Besides that, she also sells peanuts, mushrooms, beans and miscellaneous items. Currently her business brings in $60 USD weekly. Bibi has been a micro-entrepreneur since 1982 and is a loyal client of the MFI HOPE RDC. She has received and repaid eleven previous loans. Bibi is requesting a loan to increase her stock of goods by buying packages of smoked fish in order to meet the high demand of the customers in her community and to make more profit. Her ambition is to open a cold room to keep and resell fresh fish in her area.
