A loan of $775 helped purchase plates, seats, vases, buckets, etc.

María Mercedes's story

The María Inmaculada Communal Bank meets every two weeks in the La Sequita de Montecristi parish. The canton is known for their famous Panama hats, which are valued inside and outside of the country.

María lives in this area. She is 34 years old and married. She has six children from this relationship. They are 18, 16, 14, 11, 7 and 5 years old. The older ones all study in secondary or primary school. The youngest one is in nursery school. Her husband is a construction worker.

María is a very good housewife. She earns her own income through her business selling plastic products like plates, vases, covers and other things made out of plastic. She works every day. She does more work in the mornings because it is cooler at this time and she can cover her routes better. She delivers her products on credit and collects money every weekend. She has had this business for more than two years and it is going very well.

This loan will be used to purchase plates, seats, vases, buckets and other things. She has been a member of this communal bank for three cycles. She likes it because of the help given to her and the other members from the institution.

Her dreams are to continue moving forward and to see her children finish their studies.
