Emma's story

Emma is a member of the communal lender Consuelo, in San Pablo, Bellavista, San Martín. She is 47, lives with a partner and has three children; tow live independently and she cares for the youngest, who is 15. Emma has worked since age 16 to support her household, and this has given her economic independence, and she also lived with her partner so they could grow crops. Later, they moved to a rented house, which they bought some time afterwards. This house had a small store built-in, and her husband and her began to run and improve it. With this loan of S/. 1,700.00 she will buy items for the store such as: candy, soft drinks, rice, sugar, boxes of milk, cooking oil, meat, vegetables, fruit, egg cartons, bread, jelly and others. Emma is a creative and resourceful woman. Her dream is to have a much larger business.
