Genoveva's story

Genoveva is a member of the “Kapia Marca” communal bank, located in the district and province of Yunguyo, in Puno department. She is 65, married, and has eight children who are independent.

Genoveva has been working with the Movimiento Manuela Ramos for more than eight years. Her first loan was for 300 nuevos soles, which increased the working capital of her business. She makes handicrafts.

She will apply for a new loan for the sum of 2,700 nuevos soles, to buy materials for making wigs and hair for the costumes used in the Morenada and Diablada dances. She will also buy rattles and little bells; all for the Puno festival.

Her husband and children work with her in the business. She wishes to continue in the business, and improve her earnings.

What she likes best about her communal bank are the easy loan terms.
