A loan of $950 helped to buy products (rice, flour, beer, soft drinks, oil, etc.) for his business.

Celestino's story

Celestino was born in the city of Tete, in the province of the same name in northern Mozambique. He is married and the father of five children, who all still attend school. He studied medicine and lives in his own home with his family, and isn't financially responsible for anyone else.
He left Tete for Boane to fulfill his compulsory military service. He's retired from the Ministry of Defense and has had his own shop for more than four years. His earnings and pension together give him an income of around 12,500 meticals a month, which he uses for household expenses and also saves some in his bank account (BIM).
He's never had a loan from other banks. He heard about Hluvuku through a friend who is also a client of the institution. This is his fourth loan with Hluvuku, in the amount of 25,000 meticals, which he will use to buy products (rice, flour, beer, soft drinks, oil, etc.) for his business. His first loans were in the amounts of 9,000, 15,000, and 20,000 meticals, which he also invested in his business. He is committed to paying off this loan and in the future hopes to request further loans from Hluvuku to expand the products he carries.
