A loan of $1,000 helped purchase construction materials in order to continue building his home (sand, cement, stone, iron and others).

Celestino's story

Celestino was born in the District of Manhiça, in the Province of Maputo in the South of Mozambique. He’s married and the father of 5 children who are still all at School. He completed 4th grade and didn’t continue his education due to his parents’ lack of financial means. He lives in his own house with his family and doesn’t support anyone else.

He left Manhiça for the District of Boane looking for better living conditions. He has been a carpenter for more than 31 years and has a monthly income of around 15,000.00 meticals (MZN) which he spends on household expenditures and saves in his bank account (BIM).

Celestino has had loans from other banks (TSHUMA) which he has been able to pay back without difficulties and he came to know Hluvuku through a friend who is also a client of this institution. This is his second loan with Hluvuku, for the amount of 26,350.00 MZN with which he intends to purchase construction materials in order to continue building his home (sand, cement, stone, iron and others). He commits to paying off the loan and in future he intends to finish off his house and purchase a vehicle for transporting wood to his carpentry workshop. To this end, he intends to solicit further loans from Hluvuku.
