View original language description ↓
Mr. Juan lives in the municipality of Ticuantepe, area of Masay, a rural community where the main economic activity that the inhabitants dedicate themselves to is citrus agriculture and vegetables. Mr. Juan has worked on his lands that he bought for forty years, on them he grows pineapples of the “Monte Lirio” variety. He is married and his wife dedicates herself to housekeeping, their children are now older and live independently of their parents. He possesses a lot of experience in managing the lands, maintaining, producing and marketing his product. The care and upkeep of these lands costs a lot, in the first months of the year he needs to prepare the earth so that it can produce a good harvest in the months of May and July, a time when it produces a better quantity depending on the climate during those months, because of that he needs to buy organic fertilizers to protect his crop from plagues and insecticides that could harm his harvest.
