A loan of $875 helped with the loan she would like to restock her shelves and buy beer to sell in her store.

Martha's story

Martha R. V. has a general store in the town of Jepelacio, San Martin, where she sells basic consumer goods as well as a lot of beer. She started the store in 2005 in a space in her home. Her customers in the rural town of Jepelacio are happy they can save time purchasing their goods from Martha instead of making the long trip to the main market.

Martha is 36 years old, has two children, and is single because her husband abandoned her for another woman many years ago. Now she fights to raise her two children alone and give them more opportunities than she had. The business has given her the opportunity to take charge of her life. She loves building relationships and giving customers the best possible care.

A member of the community bank Mujeres Responsables, Martha is requesting a loan of $875 (s/2500) to repay over 6 months. With the loan, she would like to restock her shelves with goods and beer. In the future, she would like to be able to send her children to university.
