A loan of $1,450 helped a member to buy clothes for her sewing and embroidery business.

Shahnaz's Group's story

Shahnaz is a widow. She lost her husband a few years ago to a sudden death, which was a great tragedy for her family. But she never lost hope. She started a decorative embroidery and sewing business to afford her children's living expenses. She is the mother of four sons and two daughters. Only her youngest daughter is studying, because her other children couldn’t complete their educations due to financial constraints.

Shahnaz has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah for her business. With the loan investment, she will buy unstitched clothes in bulk quantities. Then she will sew them and add beautiful embroidery in order to sell them for a higher profit. She has been operating her business for many years, and she is confident that her business will be successful after receiving her loan.

Note: In the photo, the lady holding a book (called the Asasah Passbook) is Shahnaz.
