Alvaro Antonio

A loan of $800 helped to plant avocados.

Alvaro Antonio's story

Sr. Álvaro, 43, is a farmer. Currently he is growing avocados and cilantro on family land. He dedicates his free time to his own farming since he also works as a farm laborer in flower cultivation in the municipality of Carmen de Viboral, located east of Antioquia. He has many years of experience in this work since he belongs to a family of farmers.

Álvaro has two sons, 15 and 6 years old. The youngest of his sons has a disease of the colon that requires surgery and very expensive medication.

At present, Álvaro wants to plant more avocados and continue growing as a farmer so that he will be able to generate additional income to support his family. He dreams of seeing his son recovered from his the illness and of continuing to work to give his family an education and a better quality of life.
