María Julia's story

Mrs. María is a member of the ‘Paradise’ Communal Bank she lives near Cumbe in Cuenca. This place is of a cold climate as it is in an area surrounded by mountains and vegetation, its population breeds animals and are in agriculture. Most of Cuenca’s populace work in different fields in the city and keep the culture and traditions of their native land.

Mrs. María is 26 years old, a single mother and has 3 children of 9, 3 and 1 year of age. Her eldest daughter is studying in a school in the neighborhood. Mrs. María does not have her own home and lives in an aunt’s home and shares the household expenses with her.

Mrs. María works taking care of the home and since she spends so much time there she breeds and sells pigs and chickens.

This is her third loan with the communal bank and will use it to buy chickens to increase her animal stock.

Mrs. María’s goal is to grow her business, raising chickens.
