A loan of $1,775 helped a member to buy wool.

Union Palmeras Y Pinos Group's story

The communal bank "UNIÓN PALMERAS Y PINOS” ["Union of Palms and Pines"] is starting its first loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Juan Pablo Center. It is mde up of eight members, and it is led by an executive board, headed by Tecla. The businesses carried out by the communal bank members are varied, including selling blankets, selling sweaters, weaving blankets, selling baby clothes, selling t-shirts, and selling rugs.

Tecla indicates that she became a member of Pro Mujer two cycles ago, on the invitation of the promoters. Currently, she has a business making and selling blankets and sweaters. She has run this business for quite a few years, and she learned it from one of her sisters.

The loan that she is now requesting is to increase her stock of merchandise by buying wool, which she will purchase from the markets. After making her products, she will sell them at her sales stand. This business allows her to generate resources to support her family as much as possible, since she is single and has four children.

When she is asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes the training.
