Elena's story

Elena is a member of the Communal Bank “Candelaria” which is located in the central village of Poccona in the District and Province of Yunguyo, Department of Puno. She is 41 years old, married, and has five children who are of school age.

Elena has worked with Manuela Ramos for four years. Her first loan was in the amount of 300 PEN. The money was invested in her business of selling regional products.

She is requesting a new loan of 1000 PEN so that she can buy 40 units of beans, quinoa, and barley. Her husband will acquire these products and Elena will be in charge of selling them after they have been milled. Sometimes her husband travels to the town of Yunguyo to acquire the beans.

Her dream for the future is to continue working in her business and improving her income. What she likes most about her Communal Bank are the savings.
