A loan of $825 helped to purchase computer equipment for her children's education.

Yesenia's story

Yesenia is 35 years old and lives with her family in a community called San Carlos, in the second province of Costa Rica, Alajuela. The area holds first place nationally in coffee and sugar cane production. In addition the area produces staple food crops (rice, beans, corn), fruits, legumes, root vegetables and other garden produce. Additionally the Aeropuerto Internacional Juan Santamaría, the country's most important airport, is located in this province.

Yesenia has needed a computer for several months since she is a single mother and it is difficult to get her children ahead without this technological tool. Thus she is seeking a loan in the amount of ¢400,000.00 (400 thousand colones) for the purchase of a computer in order to make it easier for her children to do their school work, in hopes that they may continue their studies and one day become great professionals.

Yesenia is a member of the communal bank "El Encanto de Pital" and this is her first loan, in one of the 150 member organizations of EDESA in Costa Rica.
