Mr. Luciano C. lives in the Alpacota section of the city of La Paz with his wife, Maria Capcha, and their three kids. Mr. Luciano works as a driver of a small truck transporting construction supplies. His wife works doing wash at individual homes.

With previous loans they were able to build approximately half of a perimeter wall, as well as two bedrooms. The credit they are currently seeking would be to finish the perimeter wall, and to demolish a bedroom made from adobe that is very old and deteriorated.

This will be his eighth loan, and the socioeconomic analysis completed indicates he qualifies favorably for access to credit. Luciano has been a client of ours since the year 2000 and has always paid back his loans satisfactorily.

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
