A loan of $2,475 helped a member to buy stucco.

Luz Clarita Group's story

The communal bank "Luz Clarita" ("Clear Light") will take out their fourth loan cycle through Pro Mujer as part of the German Busch regional office. The group is composed of eight members and is directed by a board led by Maria Isabel. The businesses undertaken by the members of the communal bank are varied; they include weaving, sales of food, a stucco store, sales of CDs, and macrame.

Maria Isabel says that she began working in Pro Mujer two years ago and that she became involved with the organization at the invitation of promoters. She has a business that sells stucco, which she has been doing for years, learning the trade from her husband.

This loan is to increase her working capital (to purchase stucco), which she will buy from people who bring it from the province. Afterward, she will sell it in her sales space. This work allows her to earn income to support her family, as she lives with her partner and has five children.

When she was asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Maria Isabel responds that she likes the subject of health.

In the photograph, the daughter of one of the partners appears behind the woman in the green shawl.
