Sofia's story

Sofia is 62, married and has four children. She was born in the city of Juliaca and now lives in Cusco. There she conducts her business and other daily activities.

Sofia sells butifarras (a traditional Peruvian sandwich maD. from specially prepared pork, named locally the country’s ham). She sells her products in the doorway of her oldest daughter’s house. She has been engaged in this business for several years and it has been doing well thanks to the effort she puts into her work.

Sofia belongs to the “Ñahupacman Purisun” communal bank of Asociación Arariwa in Cusco. At this time she needs a loan to buy onions, bread, ham, tomatoes, hot peppers and other items.

Sofia is grateful for the opportunity provided her and is committed to making her payments on time.
