A loan of $1,125 helped to buy fabric, thread for the overlock machines, elastic, lace, etc.

Sussy's story

Sussy belongs to the communal bank “Virgen de la Inmaculada” in the Tarapoto district, in the province and department of San Martín. She is 37, lives with a partner, and has 2 children aged 16 and 6 who are in school.

She has always enjoyed sewing, and ever since 1992 she has had a dressmaking business in order to generate income and help out with the household expenses. Her husband helped her to buy a sewing machine that she eventually updated with the help of her communal bank, and now she has two commercial (overlock) sewing machines. These machines give her garments a finished look. Because of the quality of her work, she has loyal customers who recommend her to others. She also has regular customers such as companies who need her services to make uniforms. In this way, she has been working each day to achieve her dreams.

With this new loan of 3,000 Peruvian soles, she will buy fabric, thread for the overlock machines, elastic, lace, etc. In addition, she will stock up on merchandise (clothing and shoes) for the Christmas season, since she already has a number of orders.

Sussy is a very enterprising and hardworking woman. Her dream is to have her own clothing company. She is very grateful for the Movimento Manuela Ramos organization for helping her to make progress.
