Khadija is a married woman with three children. Two of her children are enrolled in school while one is too young for school. Her husband is a mason who contributes to the family's basic needs. Khadija owns a house with neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is food for her family.
Khadija has operated a poultry selling business for the past three years. Her potential clients are café and butcher owners. She faces a major challenge which is competition from other operators. She dreams of expanding her business.
With the KES 40,000 she wants to purchase chicken feed for her chicks. She decided to join Yehu to access capital to expand her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
