A loan of $650 helped a member to source farming inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer, at low prices for the 2012 planting season.

Sinoko B Group's story

Bridgid is the facilitator of the Sinoko B group. Bridgid and her group joined One Acre Fund in the year 2011 and will re-enroll in the 2012 program.

With this loan, One Acre Fund will purchase fertilizer, seeds, and other important inputs to distribute to Bridgid and her group during Kenya’s next planting season in February 2012. The distribution of farming inputs is part of One Acre Fund’s integrated agriculture package, which includes training, reliable input supply (such as fertilizer and seeds), credit and insurance.

She joined One Acre Fund to access One Acre's best prices and to ensure food security for her family. In the recent 2011 season, Bridgid had an excellent maize yield harvesting 18 bags on one acre of land. Before joining One Ace Fund, Bridgid was only able to harvest seven bags of maize on one acre of land.

With income from her maize sales, Bridgid will educate her children and save for future use.

In 2012, the members of Sinoko B group will each plant maize plots between ½ and 1 acre of land.
