Hem's story

Mrs. Hem S., 49, is married with five children and she stays at home cooking food for her family members. To supplement her standard of living she owns a plot of land growing a variety of vegetables and she makes on average $2 a day. To contribute to their living standard, her husband Mr. Sor Cheuon, 54, works as a teacher at high school in Prey Veng province making on average $3.33 a day. Two of their children work at a nearby factory at a salary of $80 each a month. Another three children are studying in Phnom Penh City. This couple hopes to use this loan to send their school-aged child to a university as they want their children to have better jobs in the future.
