Nueva Asuncion Dist 4 Group's story

The “NUEVA ASUNCIÓN DIST. 4” community bank are about to start their first loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Los Andes regional office. The group has seven members and is run by a board of directors which is led by Elza. The businesses that the members of the bank are engaged in are varied and include: sewing, knitting blankets, running a grocery store, making rugs and knitting capes.

Elza says that she has been working with Pro Mujer for six months and she joined through an invitation from her friends. She has a neighborhood store which she has been working in for some time. She learned the business from her husband.

The loan that Elza is taking out will be used to increase her capital (buying groceries). She will buy her products wholesale in La Ceja and will then sell them in her store. This work allows her to make income with which to support her family. Elza is married and has four children.

When we asked her what she likes about Pro Mujer, Elza replied that she likes the medical clinic.

In this group: Elza , Antonia, Marcelina, Arminda, Cristina, Flora, Leandra
