A loan of $1,050 helped to buy mobile phones and accessories for resale.

Hamidou Ousmane's story

Hamidou is a 23-year-old single man who lives in an extended traditional family in the city of Sikasso.

Having not had the opportunity to pursue his studies, Hamidou learned early on the business of buying and selling mobile phones and accessories (skin cases, batteries, chargers, headphones, etc.), an activity he has been practicing for nearly 10 years. He conducts his business in his own shop at the Sikasso bus station and his clientele consists mainly of travelers and carriers. He is in high demand due to the quality of his merchandise.

Eager to meet the needs of his growing customer base, he decided to join the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso, where he has previously received three loans, all properly repaid.

He is seeking a fourth loan to go to Bamako to purchase 40 mobile phones of various brands, 3 boxes of skin cases, about 15 chargers, 20 packs of memory cards, 15 boxes of batteries, a dozen set of headphones in different styles, a selection of watches and some belts.

He hopes to earn a monthly profit of 350,000 FCFA, which he will use primarily to increase his working capital, to help with the household expenses, and to pay the interest on the loan.
