A loan of $200 helped to buy fabric, threads and elastic.

Bertha's story

62-year-old Bertha is a hard-working, cheerful, and very charismatic woman. She lives with José, her life partner. Now that their children are grown up and have their own families, they live alone in their home which they own. However, they receive constant visits from their children.

Bertha's business is making comforters, sheets, bedspreads, cases for electrical appliances, and other products. She works from home where she has a small workshop with the machines she needs to finish her products off nicely so that they are to the taste of her customers who are mainly her friends, neighbors and people who she has been recommended to. She has been serving her customers for 6 years.

What Bertha enjoys about her business is being able to work in a trade that she enjoys and which allows her to socialize with a lot of people and make good profits. She has used her profits to build some rooms which she rents out. This makes her additional income. She tells us that she has plans to open a hardware store in her own home.

This will be Bertha's fifth loan from MFP. She feels happy to have financial support and to be able to make progress in her business. For this reason, she will be punctual in making her loan repayments. Bertha will use the sum she has requested to invest in buying materials for her business such as fabrics, threads, elastic, etc.
