A loan of $575 helped to improve her corral's infrastructure.

Esther's story

Esther, 58, is a hardworking, dynamic woman. She lives with her elderly step-father, two daughters who are 37 and 25 years old and her two nephews in a house that’s her property. Esther raises farm-bred chickens. She has a corral built at home with a capacity for up to 1000 chickens per season. She then sells them live to merchants in the markets and she also fills orders for certain chicken shops. She started the business twenty years ago with her late husband and now she gets help from a assistant that she pays a weekly wage to. What she likes about her work is the income that allows her to meet household expenses and now that her nephews live with her she is providing them with an education like she did for her own children. This will be MFP loan #5. She feels happy with the financial support she’s been getting and it’s why she commits to continue making her payments like she’s done in previous loans. She will use the requested loan to maintain her corral; she will buy Irapay [type of palm tree] leaves to reroof, wood slats to replace the old ones and other things.
