Tanutsu Women Group's story

In the photo are members of the “Tanutsu Women” group. They are small-scale businesswomen based in Makeni, a city in Northern Sierra Leone. They are seeking for a loan of 1,200,000.00 SLL for each from SMT/Kiva lenders. With this loan, they will be able to expand their businesses, make more profit and consequently improve on their standard of living.

The leader of this group is Fanta. Fanta is age thirty-seven; she was born in Bo city, in Southern Sierra Leone. Currently, she is residing in Makeni, together with her husband and three children. Her husband is a businessman and her children are attending primary and secondary schools. For eight years now, Fanta has been selling cloths: cotton cloths. With this loan, she will buy bales of cloths to add to her business.
