A loan of $1,000 helped to buy natural medicines and clothing to sell.

Luis Alberto's story

The members of the Communal Bank “Santo Rosario” meet every 15 days in Andrés De Vera parish in the city of Portoviejo, the capital of Manabí. For many years, Portoviejo has been known as the "City of the Royal Tamarind Trees". This city has a warm and pleasant climate, and is known for its rich cuisine.

Don Luis lives in this place. He is 50 years old, in a common-law relationship, and has a nine-year-old son who is in school. His wife is a homemaker.

Luis is a merchant who sells natural medicines and all types of clothing. He travels to other cities in order to conduct his sales. Luis works three or four days each week. He extends credit and collects payment on a weekly basis. Luis has been in this business for seven years and has done very well, which has enabled his family to move forward.

This loan will be used to buy more natural medicines and clothes of all types. He has participated in two loan cycles with the Communal Bank and enjoys being a member because the other people in his group are very nice and organized.

His dream is to have a car that he can use for conducting his sales and visiting his customers.
