A loan of $450 helped to buy materials for her tailoring shop and add capital to her mobile money shop.

Florence's story

Florence owns a tailoring shop in Kongowea, Kenya. The business has been in operation for twenty years. She is married and has five children, three of whom are in school. Florence also owns a mobile money transfer shop. Florence joined Milango this year after an invitation from her friend. She is applying for a loan of 40,000 Kenyan shillings (KES) to buy materials for her tailoring shop and add capital into her mobile money shop. There is usually a low season in February and this is the only challenge to Florence. The additional income from this business will help her to improve her family's standard of living and pay for her children’s school fees. Among her future plans are to open various mobile money transfer shops and to contract schools to supply school uniforms.
